Diggind Deeper at ADE: Steve Lawler Talks About His New Ibiza Residency, Vacations and Up-And-Coming Artists

A child of the Acid House generation of the ’90s, Steve Lawler has been pushing the gender boundaries for decades as a promoter, producer, DJ and of course as the head of the infamous VIVa MUSiC founded in 2006.

A constant presence in Ibiza throughout the summer, Steve earned his first residency on the island by handing in a mixtape at Café Mambo and the rest, as they say, is history. He continues to remain at the forefront of the electronic industry by constantly innovating and curating, both as a party curator, a label manager and of course an artist himself.

We caught up with him during his most recent U.S. tour, where he played clubs such as Coda in Toronto, Heart in Miami, Beta in Denver and Output in New York.

Eastern Electrics Confirms 2016 Lineup Following PacMan #REVEEL

EElectrics

Rather than going the traditional route, yesterday we saw how Eastern Electrics decided to release its 2016 roster by making fans play games of PacMan. The marketing ploy worked, with hundreds visiting the site to uncover the names set to appear at the August 6th festival just north of London.

Since, Eastern Electrics confirmed the many names uncovered by releasing its talent-packed lineup. Seth Troxler is once again making his return to the day-long celebration with the day’s headlining set after famously releasing a controversially hilarious promotional video for the festival in 2013. He is joined by Eats Everything, Groove Armada, who will be performing a DJ set, Hot Since 82, Kölsch, The Martinez Brothers, Skream and Steve Lawler as headliners.

Other notable names include Chicago’s Derrick Carter, Moon Harbour Recordings chief Matthias Tanzmann, Cassy, Breach, Boddika, Huxley and Viva Music recording artist Denney.

Skream, Groove Armada and Steve Lawler are set to headline their own curated stages on top of scheduled Do Not Sleep and Black Butter showcases.

You can see the entire line-up below.

Best Tracks of the Summer

Dennis Ferrer playing Ibiza 2014

Dennis Ferrer playing Ibiza 2014

It’s that time of year. The summer has officially ended, and dancefloors around the world are still buzzing from action packed months. At the end of the summer a frequent question arises, “what was the hit tune in Ibiza during summer?” Well, one could attempt to narrow it down…but we all know that everyone likes a different flavor; so the folks over at In the Mix caught up with some DJ’s in Ibiza to ask what their track of the summer was. Check out the full list of artists and their respective selections here

Groove Armada, Dennis Ferrer, Patrick Topping, Steve Lawler, and others all weighed in on what got the dancefloors moving for them. From the open air parties to Sankeys, there’s a little something for everyone, these are the best tracks of the summer – 2014. Each DJ selecting one track, the final list proves to be a nice blend of throwbacks, new releases, and some original productions from the artists themselves.

My personal favorite…Ze Box, the flipside to D’Julz amazing release selected by Cassy. Hard to beat a summer house tune like that.
