Paradigm Presents Announces Dixon b2b Seth Troxler Open-To-Close Movement After-Party

The Paradigm Presents crew is taking over Leland City Club once more this coming Movement Detroit weekend, with a special edition of their Motorcity Madness series taking place on Sunday, May 28th.

For the occasion, the upstairs section of the historic venue will be taken over entirely by two heavyweights of the techno and house music scene. The artists in question? None other than Detroit-raised Seth Troxler and Innervisions boss Dixon.

The two will join forces for a never-done-before back-to-back set from club opening time until the music cuts off in the early hours of the morning. Knowing how Detroit gets down during Movement weekend this will be the perfect opportunity for those with enough energy to waltz into a cab and make it on time for Old Miami’s doors opening at 7AM for the iconic Need I Say More day party.

Are We Taking The Underground Scene Too Seriously? – An Interview with Austin Gebbia (Dear Morni)

The mere mention of clubbing and nightlife evokes thoughts of dark rooms, a dance floor filled with black-clad partygoers, sunglasses and a sense of elitism that would put the Royal family to shame. In all fairness, it’s hard to not imagine nightlife, and in particularly the techno scene, as a truly serious affair. But is it really?

Early last year, I encountered a seemingly bizarre Twitter account that used the handle @DearMorni. Whoever this Dear Morni was, they clearly enjoyed making crude yet pin-pointed jokes at the expense of the DJs, clubs, and really anything that was dance music related with a focus on underground house and techno. The more tweets I read, the more I laughed. The jokes were all brutal yet innocent, and always contained at least a pinch of truth. Most were accompanied by haphazard memes that were also getting love on Dear Morni’s Instagram account. The photoshop job on each was boorish but I could sense it was part of gig  – there was sure nothing serious about Dear Morni.

Who Not To Miss

Sven Väth – April 13
The German mastermind that is Papa Sven has been a long-time friend of and performer at Awakenings. Thanks to his signature vinyl-only performances, upbeat techno tracks and funky synths, he’s sure to keep the crowd dancing throughout his entire set.

Ben Klock b2b Marcel Dettmann – April 14
These two gentlemen have been at the top of techno lists around the world and rightfully so. Their dynamic b2b sets ooze characteristic Berghain pounding techno with thrilling twists and turns throughout, making them our standout back-to-back choice for Awakenings’ 20 Year Anniversary celebration.

A space wizard with endless talents, Jeff Mills is one of the most well-seasoned techno producers and DJs to roam this earth. His sets are known to incorporate cosmic synths and spacial sounds, providing timeless and out-of-this-world techno inspired emotions.

Another Awakenings and veteran techno producer, Dave Clarke will bring the heat with heavy drums and a signature old school sound that blends techno and electro with effortless precision. The Amsterdam-based UK producer debuted with his first release in 1990 and yet remains at the forefront of today’s underground with good reason: his penchant for quality music above all else.

Ricardo Villalobos – April 16
Unnecessarily talented, Ricardo Villalobos is known to be the king of eclectic mixes, from spiraling sounds with deep bass to spirit-liberating techno. The Art of the Resident DJ: BURN Residency ft. Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Luciano and more

Seth Trxler live

BURN recently went through a journey to discover emerging talent in the world of dance music through a BURN Residency 2016 program that received over 9.000 applications.

With applicants spanning 26 countries, a DJ from each was chosen to attend the BURN Bootcamp to participate in lectures, workshops and DJ classes ran by some of the most influential and skilled artists in today’s dance music world such as Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, John Digweed and Luciano.

Three finalists, Mira Joo, Ayman Awad and Lollino, were picked from this group of 26 for a 10-week Ibiza residency with gigs at Sankeys and Bora Bora included. Lollino eventually won the €100,000 grand prize, coming out as the winner of the Residency program.

As part of the Residency initiative, BURN has released three separate documentaries profiling the art of the resident DJ, a series we began to explore with Paris’ Rex Club resident D’Julz, one of the best selectors the house music scene has to offer.

The first mini-documentary is called ‘The Creator’ and focuses on Carl Cox’s meteoric rise in Ibiza and his 15 year Music Is Revolution residency at Space that just ended this past summer. The idea behind this first video is to highlight one of the most prominent residencies in the world by an artist still in circulation, albeit one that has just come to an end.

‘The Movement’ looks at the ascent of a new series of top-tier names in underground dance music, developing on the paths taken by Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers and Apollonia in reaching the success they have achieved thus far.

‘The Future’ decides to look at ahead, as the name might suggest, by exploring the next generation of artists and prospective residents with input from BURN mentors Carl Cox, Dubfire and Uner, as well as other key industry figures.

Audion, Seth Troxler and Phil Moffa Remix Luciano’s “The Great Amael,” Out on Cadenza Music

Luciano

Luciano’s “The Great Amael” was originally released in 2014, immediately sending listeners on a captivating and mesmerizing journey in true Cadenza fashion. Filled with a bewitching groove, Hammong organs and the characteristic percussion elements that have been a part of the signature Luciano sound for the better part of the last three decades.

Fast forward to two years later, and the Chilean-Swiss producer’s label own has brought on three of the most esteemed remixers for a tandem of original and stand-alone versions of this timeless piece from Luciano’s extensive discography.
