The BPM Festival has come and gone, and many are left with the fond memories provided by the spectacular location and music from Playa del Carmen. From the vast showcases to all the world renowned artists, there was a musical experience for anyone regardless of ones taste in underground music. Many had the pleasure of journeying to Mexico for BPM to experience this in real time, but the vast majority are left to live vicariously through Be-at.tv or wait for the recorded sets to go live online.

With BPM 2016 officially in the books, we’ve compiled a playlist of as many sets from the festival as possible. Have a listen to some of our favorites below, and check out the BPM playlist for over 128 hours of grooves from 80 artists.

Apollonia at Ya’ah Muul

To be honest – there’s no bad setting to witness Apollonia in action, but BPM yields particularly excellent results.

Satoshi Tomiie at Groove Garden Session

An eclectic range of house and techno was the name of the game when Satoshi Tomiie took to the decks at Groove Garden

Kim Ann Foxman at Pets Recordings Showcase

FM tones, 303 basslines, lush chord stabs, and of course plenty of groove – Kim Ann Foxman had it all at the Pets Recordings Showcase

Luciano at Blue Parrot

Experiencing the Cadenza boss at BPM is about authentic as it gets. Although his set at Avalon Hollywood wasn’t half bad either…

Hito at Vatos Locos

Deep tech house in it’s purest form is what Hito provided the dance floor for the iconic Vatos Locos party

Valentino Kanzyani at Trust

It’s always a treat to see what Kanzyani pulls out of his record bag. BPM was no exception as the Slovenian was in top form at Trust

Josh Wink b2b Heidi at Knee Deep in Sound Showcase

Between the Ovum head-honcho and Queen of the Jackathon, this is a BPM back-to-back that you’ll want to listen to

Guy J Set to Release Third Album on Bedrock Records

Guy J live

“Every passing moment, I try to learn more and get better at what I do. My third album shows exactly where I am now as an artist. I’m very proud to give something unique to the industry. Just pure honest music “ – Guy J

Look at the forefront of the progressive genre and you will find Guy J right in the mix with some of the most talented artists around. Throughout the years he’s built up an esteemed catalog with major releases on Bedrock Records and his own imprint, Lost and Found, with his third studio album solidifying his role in the electronic industry.

Guy J new albumThe Trees, The Sea, and the Sun picks up right where he left off with previous albums, Esperanza and 1,000 Words, with his forthcoming album demonstrating an immense technical and creative range as an artist. Like his previous releases, The Trees, The Sea, and the Sun take on many different atmospheres and varying energy levels, while fulfilling a cohesive journey stretched out over twenty two tracks. From low slung burners like Bungalow and Provokoter to melodic anthems such as Live Another Day and Sleep in My Arms, the album touches upon many eclectic moods.

The album is split into two parts – Part 1 seems to embody a more structured approach and arrangement, whereas Part 2 sees Guy J go in a much more experimental direction. Tracks like Miss You Miles Away is a detailed sonic piece that casts a veil of ambiance over the listener, while a track like Mad Sine sees Guy J push the limit with sine wave frequencies. For the casual fan or deeply interested sound nerd, this album will keep you locked in for the duration.

As a prelude to the full album release, Guy J and Bedrock Records are releasing Nirvana, a dynamic single from the album that perfectly sets the tone for the grand piece to follow. You can stream Nirvana from the player below, with the rest of the album being available on November 13th.

The 2xCD and Limited 12″ Vinyl Sampler are both available for pre-order now from the Bedrock Store. For more information, make sure to stay up to date with Guy J and Bedrock Records.

Darin Epsilon Releases Enter the Beatport Top 100

Darin Epsilon Press Headshot

Progressive house is a genre that has fallen victim to an unfair generalization often associated with “big room” or festival EDM. In reality, the progressive house we know and love is a deep melodic journey encompassing many facets of house, techno, and sonic bliss that is embraced in every corner of the globe.

Helping lead the progressive house charge is Los Angeles-based producer, Darin Epsilon. With releases on Perspectives Digital, Sudbeat, and after winning John Digweed’s remix competition in 2011 he has elevated himself into the company of fellow progressive legends such as Hernan Cattenao, Nick Warren, Sasha, and more.

Coming off a successful month of releases in February, he now gets ready to embark on the journey to SXSW to play alongside Paul Oakenfold as well as Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. With no signs of slowing down, the rest of the year appears busy with tours and new releases. To preview three of his most recent releases, check the Soundcloud players below.

Cid Inc vs Darin Epsilon – Outliers (Original Mix)

With a fusion of tribal drums, distant drones, and infectious melodies Outliers is the type of track that we would imagine being welcomed with open arms at dance floors like Warung, Brazil. The track is a great testament to progressive house being alive and well, and currently has a place in the Top 100 Beatport Progressive Chart. Additionally, Beatport will host an official remix contest for Outliers in April in which everyone can try their hand at creating a progressive masterpiece.

Omid 16B – Nu1 (Darin Epsilon Remix)

Sudbeat is one of the staple progressive house labels that can look back on years of a vast and excellent catalog. Darin Epsilon recently had his remix of Omid 16B released through the label and it is an incredibly emotive piece. Lush chords pan through the spectrum giving this one an incredible atmospheric vibe.

Darin Epsilon feat. Amber Long – Feel Right

Feel Right finds the perfect balance between deep and progressive sounds. A bassline that carries all elements into a great dimension is hard at work, with vocal treatment from Amber Long rounding out the arrangement. An excellent piece that will be warming up many dance floors.

Techno Therapy: Chaim – Blue Shadow

rumors

Chaim is an artist who has the ability to tell magnificent stories through his music. It takes very well rounded and thoughtful productions to make waves in the scene, and Blue Shadow satisfies the prerequisite. Teetering on the border of tech house and progressive, Blue Shadow is an emotional ride condensed into an arrangement that is sure to have both the mind and body swaying to it’s dominant lead. It is with sounds such as this that has put him in good musical standing with Guy Gerber and the Rumors brand. He’s controlled dance floors all over the world, and Rumor has it that Los Angeles is his next stop.

Chaim will be taking over the decks for the One Year Anniversary of Clinic Wednesdays, with support from Clovis and Bambook for what is sure to be quite the celebration. An intimate venue with the slick sounds of Chaim sounds like the ideal setting for such an evening.
