Q&A, Global Vibe Radio 072 and FREE Track Download with Deep Tribe

It’s hard to envision what can happen when two people with completely different upbringings, life experiences and cultures meet. On one side we have Andrew, born and raised in Southern California, and on the other Dimitry, from South Ukraine. Two worlds apart, yet connected by a thick, visceral and intellectual thread. Somehow their paths crossed, and together they would fuse their artistic minds into a project known as Deep Tribe.

Los Angeles-based Deep Tribe is a DJ and production partnership that stirs musical minds with soul-hitting and deeply meaningful underground electronic music. Creators and innovators in their own right, the duo blends elements of house and techno with influences from other genres peppered in for an outcome that is a signature sound they are becoming widely recognized for.

Today they are gifting their fans and 6AM readers with an exclusive free remix of their very own collaboration with David O’Dowda entitled “Keep Your Head,” out on their imprint Counterfeit Fun Records.

Furthermore, 6AM had the chance to chat with both Dimitry and Andrew as they deliver this week’s edition of Global Vibe Radio with a powerful mix that clocks at nearly one hour and 20 minutes. You can listen to that right here and also download it for free courtesy of 6AM and Deep Tribe.

Free Download: CW/A ‘Disquieting’ (Metrist Remix)

Metrist

You may know CW/A as Italian producers Thomas Feriero and Francesco Leali, the minds behind Avatism, Clockwork and Opus 3000, as well as for their extensive release and remix list on labels such as Parachute, R&S, Decca and Vakant. In fact, they have been spearheading the work on Parachute in tandem with Life & Death chief DJ Tennis since 2013, all the while of course remaining prolific on the studio and on tour under their other aliases.

Last year they released their first full-length album, Words Unspoken, Acts Undone. Now, a special remix EP is being released on October 14th containing  two reworks of tracks from the album, courtesy of Parachute label-mate Metrist and Italian Workdiscs’ Simbiosi:

01. Disquieting (Metrist Remix)
02. Rainer Has No Shadow (Simbiosi Remix)

You can download the Metrist remix here via XLR8R.

CW/A are also on the cusp of releasing Ringleader. The duo drew inspiration from the current world concerns about mass surveillance and cyber spying, with Ringleader aiming to be “an audible interpretation of big data, ubiquitous connections and the acceptance of corporate and government spying.”

Out on December 16th, the album will contain the following original productions:

A1. BlatSting
2/A2. EligibleCandidate
3/A3. HiddenTemple
4/B1. ContainmentGrid
5/B2. 1212/DEHEX
6/B3. BPatrol

FREE DOWNLOAD: Anthony Attalla – “What Happened”

Anthont Attalla

In 2004 Harry “Choo Choo” Romero released What Happened, an EP on that came armed with a strong, dance floor-ready Dub remix of the same-title track by none other than Erick Morillo.

Featuring Jessica Eve on vocals, the same-title track “What Happened” was undeniably one of the hits of that year. Catchy and fast-packed, the minimal looped chunky track  was part of that signature sound that characterized the rising career of the one they called Choo Choo and his remixer for the occasion, Subliminal boss Erick Morillo.

Now, Incorrect Music chief Anthony Attalla has taken the track and given it a complete rework, the finished product already receiving major play by big-name DJs throughout the summer. While the catchy acapella remains,  Attalla’s power lays in the unmistakable and signature step and bounce he has added, as well as the sensual dreamlike melody that permeates the track before kicking back into full groove mode. The tech-heavy result is nothing short of fantastic: a dance floor-ready anthem that has been making people groove throughout summer in dance floors throughout the world.

Red Bull Studios Paris Session with KiNK

Red Bull Studios Paris Session with KiNK

Who doesn’t like free music? Fans of Bulgarian producer KiNK can now enjoy his latest EP, recorded in Paris’s Red Bull Studios, for free.

The artist, known for his impressive live performances, is now the eight artist to put out a free EP produced at the Red Bull Studios, on the footsteps of producers such as Pépé Bradock, Tom Trago, Svengalisghost and Feadz.

“I made a conscious decision to limit myself,” he confides, “and to use only what I could find in the studio to compose and record. I only brought two of my very favorite machines with me: an Acidlab Drumatix to make beats with and a Leploop – which I always bring on tour with me anyway – to make all these weird noises. Among the many instruments that were on-site, I picked a Rhodes MK 1 piano, a Moog Voyager, an acoustic drum kit and a clutch of vintage analogue effects, like the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase.

The goal was simple: to compose, record and mix three track in five days. It was a very intense experience, the clock was ticking and I had to learn how to play instruments that were new to me. So in short I had to quickly bound out of my comfort zone, which did me a world of good. None of this would have been possible without Rachel Row, who sang and played a couple of piano chords, and the studio’s sound engineer Jérome Caron, who gave me quite a bit of help with the arrangements.”

The EP is some brilliant KiNK work, the ultimate result of a true and long improv session rather than strict programming. With “Naive” listeners experience jazz-tinged electro-pop nugget carried by Rachel Row’s voice, a regular collaborator of the Bulgarian artist. On the other hand, “French Affair” is a more club-ready and instrumental-filled house track, both combining for a strong EP that is pure KiNK classic.

Free Download: David August Releases “Patria” featuring Sissi Rada

greece

A true musical craftsman, David August has a firm grasp on intricate melodies and compositions. His recent coloration with Greek vocalist, Sissi Rada, is a testament to that statement.

“Last year I met Sissi Rada. She was singing in Greek and playing the harp when I first listened to her. I asked her to record something with me as I wanted to use her voice for my music. We sat down, I played the harmonies on my Prophet 5 and she would jam over it. Her first take is the take you’re listening to.” – David August

Influenced by the unfortunate political and economic landscape of Greece, Patria conveys a sense of tension that is softened by the music of August and the vocals of Rada. Soft pads, a mellow bass, and gentle melodies play off a very organic drum groove that keeps everything together in one cohesive arrangement.

Freebie Friday: Hernene – Rainy Dayz

tumblr_njfc5dvbXP1qjmmlpo1_500
If you’ve ever visited or lived in LA you’ll know how rare it is for us to get any rain at all through out the year. In light of the last day and 1/2 of gloomy weather and cold showers we picked a track title that truly fits the vibe.

Hernene, a Los Angeles based producer, delivered us a proper tune which was featured by XLR8R as a free download and we found it quite appropriate to share this with our fellow music lovers. The sound derives from what we would consider “true deep house” with a nice touch of jack-liftin beats (yes we just made it up) that gives you a sense of hope that the rain will soon fade to bring some normalcy back to the city of angels. Enjoy this fine cut and stay dry!

Freebie Friday: James Barnsley Tracks

James-Barnsley

James Barnsley is a name that is synonymous with house music. With releases on Savor Music, Keep it Zen, Sankeys Music, and Catwash Records it’s safe to say that Barnsley knows his way around a studio…and a dance floor. Always progressing forward while staying true to house music in it’s purest form, James Barnsley is a class artist in this massive global industry. While his whole catalog is worth listening to, here are two free downloads that he’s made available through his Soundcloud.

You can stream and download the two tracks from the Soundcloud players below. Sit back, relax, play ‘em loud, and have an excellent weekend.

James Barnsley – Pushing feat. Robert Owens

Pushing starts off strong with wet reverberated hits and a brief introduction with a jackin hat pattern. As the track chugs along the hypnotic vibe locks you in, and it isn’t broken until the vocal treatment from Robert Owens comes in. An ode to old basement parties and limited tools, it is certainly a track that everyone can appreciate. A wobbly pad enters the mix rounding off the track in true Barnsley fashion.

James Barnsley – Move On (Original Mix)

Nothing gets a groove going like some punchy 909 toms. Add a slow chunky bassline and the groove is further enunciated. James Barnsley has a fine attention to detail within the track, making sure that each element finds it’s appropriate place in the mix. From the synthetic click every four bars to the distant chords every so often it is a great track with a fun arrangement.

Freebie Friday: I’ll House You (Einzelkind Edit)

Sankeys banner

If you’ve been on a dance floor at all the past 10 years it’s highly probable that you’ve heard the iconic “I’ll house you” vocal sample. It’s one of the best dance floor vocal samples for a DJ to use at his/her discretion, and never fails in injecting feel good vibes to the party. For Freebie Friday today we share with you the jackin’ edit of I’ll House You by Einzelkind.

Einzelkind takes the original track from Jungle Brothers and turns it into a certified groover. Where the original utilized classic chord stabs, Einzelkind’s edit strips everything back relying heavily on a forceful and jackin hat groove. Between a deep saturated kick, the hats, and the iconic vocal sample you have all the ingredients for a perfect club track.

Enjoy the free download, and test it out on a dance floor near you this weekend.

Freebie Friday and EP Preview: PILO

PIlO Cover

The pilomotor reflex, most aptly known as goosebumps is exactly what happens when you listen to music that sends shivers down your spine. For Freebie Friday today we present a track from PILO in preparation for his forthcoming release on Boysnoize Records.

PILO has been consistently releasing truly original tracks from day one and his Forthcoming EP Sentimental Schematics is simply proof that he has no where to go but up. The featured track on the EP, Memory Loss, (which is to premier via Nest HQ) is the very definition of what makes PILO’s music so authentic. With a variation of resonating techno sounds, oscillated dissonance, and an earsplitting kick drum, it’s hard to believe one can actually turn such contrasting elements into such a melodic tune that still retains its sense of originality.

The entire EP will be available worldwide on Boysnoize Records April 20th. Grab your free download of User Image below, and preview Memory Loss from PILO’s new EP here.
