Claude VonStroke Discusses the Dirtybird Campout on the Rave Curious Podcast

The annual Dirtybird Campout has become a major event on the West Coast festival circuit, thanks to a programming that sees it present every shade of the label’s beloved sound — from house and techno to bass and hip-hop — and combining it with adult updates on good old-fashioned summer camp activities (sexy musical chairs, anyone?).

Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke sat down with the Rave Curious Podcast to reveal a couple of surprises he has in store for this year’s gathering. He also offers up advice on how to make it as a musical entrepreneur and explains the back and forth it took him to arrive at his destination as one of America’s most successful DJ/producers.

Claude VonStroke Releases Lineup for Dirtybird Campout 2017

“Picture the good ole days, when sun-drenched hours flew by filled with outdoor adventures, life was no more complicated than trying to win at dodgeball or finding a new friend to sneak off with after dark. Yep, Summer Camp was pretty epic, but if only there had been house music!”

That’s the mindset that drove Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird team to launch their hugely successful Dirtybird Campout, which returns this coming October for its third installment at a new and improved home in Central California. It’s a singular experience delivering three days of nostalgia inducing activities, soundtracked by some of the world’s most cutting edge DJs and live acts, all curated by Head Counselor and label boss Claude himself.

Today, VonStroke revealed those who will be joining him in October at Campout, turning late nights into early mornings at the after-hours stage and programming those sun filled afternoons at the Birdhouse. He also announced a brand-new second stage, allowing him to showcase the event’s biggest lineup yet featuring a wider selection of sounds and artists from soundscapes that range from contemporary house to hip-hop and several genres in between.

Throwback Thursday: Claude Von Stroke

There comes a time in every successful artist’s life where they needed to risk it all and sacrifice everything they’ve got to make their goals and dream a reality. With the success Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird label have witnessed in recent years it’s hard to imagine he ever had a struggle. Today’s Throwback Thursday is dedicated to our beloved Big Bird, the single ‘Who’s Afraid of Detroit’ from his debut album, Beware of the Bird, truly laid the foundation for his current glory and the label’s overall music direction. It was told that the debut Dirtybird album was a one-time shot for him to make something out of nothing, an opportunity that his wife gave him nearly 10 years ago to reach his dreams. The story is humbling to say the least and this original cut from his debut album is as futuristic as ever; a nice drum bounce that defines what Dirtybird beats are all about coupled with a dubby layer and a infectious hook and trippy synths that will sure get any dancefloor in the groove. If you’re in LA this Saturday, Claude VonStroke will be joining up with Green Velvet to debut their new b2b alias, Get Real. Tickets and Discounted guestlist can be found on our website.
