Free Download: CW/A ‘Disquieting’ (Metrist Remix)

You may know CW/A as Italian producers Thomas Feriero and Francesco Leali, the minds behind Avatism, Clockwork and Opus 3000, as well as for their extensive release and remix list on labels such as Parachute, R&S, Decca and Vakant. In fact, they have been spearheading the work on Parachute in tandem with Life & Death chief DJ Tennis since 2013, all the while of course remaining prolific on the studio and on tour under their other aliases.

Last year they released their first full-length album, Words Unspoken, Acts Undone. Now, a special remix EP is being released on October 14th containing  two reworks of tracks from the album, courtesy of Parachute label-mate Metrist and Italian Workdiscs’ Simbiosi:

01. Disquieting (Metrist Remix)
02. Rainer Has No Shadow (Simbiosi Remix)

You can download the Metrist remix here via XLR8R.

CW/A are also on the cusp of releasing Ringleader. The duo drew inspiration from the current world concerns about mass surveillance and cyber spying, with Ringleader aiming to be “an audible interpretation of big data, ubiquitous connections and the acceptance of corporate and government spying.”

Out on December 16th, the album will contain the following original productions:

A1. BlatSting
2/A2. EligibleCandidate
3/A3. HiddenTemple
4/B1. ContainmentGrid
5/B2. 1212/DEHEX
6/B3. BPatrol

About Avatism:
Thomas did not buy his first vinyl record when he was 10 years old, nor was he born out of the love of two underground jazz musicians. Despite an extremely dull and standard childhood during which he barely learned to play drums, his moody productions have been released on labels such as Vakant, Infiné and Haunt.

Much to everyone’s surprise, his recently-released debut album “Adamant”, doom-laced live sets and collaborations have lead him to rise to similar popularity as other artists with more interesting biographies.

“There’s always been a neat unpredictability about Avatism. From the muffled jazz shuffles of “The Slug” to the stark, synth-hammered “Farewell Portrait” to the darker, more mischievous “Constants”. While he clearly resides in the techno district, no one’s ever been able to pinpoint his exact address. But you get the impression that’s how he likes it.” (Dave Jenkins, 2013)

Avatism Live at Panorama Bar

Live set up

Live sets are starting to be seen much more frequently in the club environment these days. Technology has certainly had an influence on artists and how their studio rigs can be easily incorporated into a live set up, thus creating a new experience and atmosphere for the night. One artist who embraces his live performance to the fullest is Avatism, and the week of his LA debut is upon us.

Avatism will be making his LA debut at our first event installment of WORK 001 this Friday, along with Hands Free (MFR Records) and support from our own Andrew Hong, Jamie Charles, and JIA. To start the week, it’s only appropriate to share one of Avatism’s live sets from Panorama Bar in Berlin earlier this year.

His performance embodies all elements of proper techno, and the flow between sounds and rhythms are uncompromised. Unlike some sets where one can expect the flow and journey, Avatism delivers a unique performance touching on all bases through various elements and instruments. His LA debut this Friday will be quite a treat for clubbers and audiophiles alike.

Presales can be found here on Resident Advisor, and guestlist is available here.

Avatism New Release: Conducting the Method

Conducting the Method Art

CW/A, or known individually as Clockwork and Avatism, are no strangers to making dance music that satisfies the mind and body. The two have provided memorable tunes for labels such as Life and Death, and they extend their musical talents to Vakant with their new release Conducting the Method.

Working on their respective solo projects they create excellent music, but when they come together in the studio something special happens. Matt Unicomb of Resident Advisor summarizes the new release quite nicely, giving it a solid 4/5. You can read his full review on RA here.

Check out the new release and save the date as we host Avatism for his Los Angeles debut on November 7th

Premiere: CW/A (Clockwork & Avatism) ‘Modern Conflict Theory’

Just 2 days before the digital release of Clockwork & Avatism’s latest EP ‘Conducting the method’, the duo known as CW/A drops an exclusive preview of their forthcoming EP ‘Modern Conflict Theory’. Their latest album will feature 3 original tracks, the premiere showcases what is most likely the hardest hitting and darkest cut of this EP. We can’t seem to get enough of CW/A and very much looking forward to Avatism’s LA debut set for Friday, Nov 7th as tickets are currently available now. For more info on the event, please click here.

Clockwork & Avatism (CW/A) – Conducting the Method EP

CW/A better known as the duo alias of childhood musical friends Clockwork (real name: Francesco) and Avatism (real name: Thomas) are set to release their latest EP on Vakant ‘Conducting the Method’ on digital platform this coming Monday, September 29th. The sound of this album shows the moodier side of electronic music with a twist of raw industrial techno a perfect balance of the current underground sound. CW/A’s highly anticipated album was stemmed from their 2013 Sonar Festival experience when the two went LIVE for the first time. Since then, the two have shared multiple stages across Europe as seen last weekend at France’s N.A.M.E. Festival. Avatism is set to make his debut in LA for our new event series, WORK, on Friday Nov 7th at Los Globos. For more information on tickets and guestlist click here
