Mystic Garden Fence Climber on Acid Trip Rescued Out of Lake by Police Helictopter

Fence climbers are a normal occurrence at festivals world over. Some get away with it and manage to enjoy the festival at the expense of promoters’ blood, sweat and tears, while others get caught and promptly removed off the premises.

However things got a little crazier for a fence climber at Amsterdam’s Mystic Garden this past weekend. After entering the festival illegally with two other men, the man was caught by festival security and taken to the medical tent as he was clearly under the influence, at which point things made a turn for the worst. He became delusional and aggressive and despite the attempt of three security personnel to keep him detained, he ran off to the west side of the park and dove into the waters of the Sloterplas, a local lake.

Due to his behavior the medical team deduced the man was under the influence of LSD and, worried about his personal safety, called local police to help get him out of the lake waters and under proper care and treatment. A police helicopter with heat cameras had to be used to locate the man in question, while police closed parts of the street and used a boat to get him back to safety.

It’s important to note that Mystic Garden Festival security and medical personnel did everything in their power to help the man, following standard protocol in the process.

12 People Suffer Chemical Burns in London Nightclub Acid Attack

On April 17th, 2017 shocking news about an acid chemical burn attack at nightclub Mangle E8 (Wringer & Mangle) began making the world rounds. The nightclub is an ex-industrial laundry basement now converted into a multi-use events space in London Fields, home to a 720 capacity basement event space, a canteen/bar on the ground floor and numerous music and arts workspaces. Mangle is advertised to be a new venue for music enthusiasts who want to party in the heart of London.

The Sun reports that the venue had been hosting the Lovejuice Warehouse Party, a nine-hour house music night when the attack broke out injuring 12 and requiring 400 partygoers to be evacuated into the street. The Police Department, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service arrived at around 01:10 BST. A tenant that lives in a space overlooking the club explained the confusing scene: “It happened so fast – they rushed people out. I thought it was a stabbing because all I heard was ‘move, move, move – move out of the area’. The security was telling the crowd to go down that way – people on this side were waiting to go home but they couldn’t go home because the road was closed. People were confused.”

Freebie Friday: Those Lies (David Duriez Acid Bonus Dub)

David Duriez art

If you can’t beat them, join them. That was the philosophy of David Duriez when he decided to offer up a free download of his remix for Raw District. His take on Those Lies encompasses everything that makes for a great house track: vibrant pads, a funky bassline, solid drum patterns, and although obvious in the title, acid textures that really take the track to the next level. We expect nothing less from such a talented producer, and neither should you. Enjoy the free download, and get this weekend started off proper.

Throwback Thursday: Adonis – No Way Back

Artwork

Back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, DJ’s and producers were relatively limited in their options for creating music. But even with limited tools, that didn’t stop them from creating timeless pieces of music that we would look back on with nostalgia today. Adonis – No Way Back is a prime example of this.

There were no fancy plugins or virtual synths back in the late 80’s. Maybe this simplicity is why the magic happened. In No Way Back it appears as if Adonis had nothing more than a drum machine, a 303 synth, and a vocal sample. Think about that for a minute… an absolutely timeless piece of music recorded on no more than a three or four track mixer. Sure technology is great, and to each their own, but No Way Back would hold it’s own against any modern dance house track.

Obviously there were many influential tracks that facilitated in getting us to the point where we are today, and without argument No Way Back is up there with the classics from the likes of Kerri Chandler, Juan Atkins, and well this list of legends could go on forever. Enjoy this throwback from Adonis, and never forget the past as it helps guide us into the future.
