Q&A and Global Vibe Radio 84 feat. Brunetto (Freelastica, Irregular)

This week’s GVR podcast comes directly from Spain, where Brunetto hails from. A musician, composer, DJ and music journalist born in Seville but based in Barcelona, Brunetto’s musical soundscape is a wide one, as this eclectic mix proves.

Brunetto’s artistry can be traced back to the broken beat school, after which it followed a journey that saw him traverse through 80s funky-rap, trip-hop, 90s rock big beats, post-beats, post-dubstep, IDM and even future bass. Describing his musical output as “diverse” would be an understatement, just as it would be to use the same adjective to describe his involvement with the electronic music world.

He has played festivals the likes of Sónar, Move, Klubbers Day, Space of Sound, Territorios, Electroshock and Observatori, all the while holding DJ residencies at venues such as Bauhaus, Funclub, Sumo, Elefunk, Jackson, and Demo. His tours have taken him to DJ booths throughout Europe, all the while working as an artist manager, agent and holding several PR and journalistic positions within the industry.

His guest mix for GVR clocks in at just under a hour-and-a-half. Listen to it below, download it for free here and read on for our interview with Brunetto.

Global Vibe Radio 083 feat. Kaelan

Nico Campanella was born in Putignano (Italy), first getting in touch with music when, at the age of 11 he began studying the piano and, shorty after, became involved with various local bands.

His love and deep passion for everything concerning music later expanded to electronic sounds, becoming influenced by artists such as Basic Channel, Robert Hood, Substance et Vainqueur, Derrick May, Jeff Mills and many others.

In the last few years his necessity to propose a multifaceted vision of electronic music made it necessary to create new projects, including that of “Kaelan”, which has since becomehis main alias for techno. Under his side project “2030” he proposes electro-inspired music, while “Ixm” is his pseudo for dub techno sounds.

Kaelan is the owner of Subosc and co-owner of the Ranges imprint. The former aims to propose modern and classy techno music, while the latter is a tribute to reminiscent dub techno sounds. Currently, Kaelan is working on projects with some of the most known techno european labels, such as Construct Re-form, CLFT, Monnom Black.

Q&A and Global Vibe Radio 068 feat. Synthek Live at KHIDI

Synthek is a Berlin based DJ and producer, owner of Natch Records and STK imprint. Always seeking for new influences, over the past years the style of his sets and productions has faced a constant evolution, focusing on deep rhythmics and powerful, introspective vibes.

Following few successful EPs on Natch Records, he released his debut album Unwise, in collaboration with label partner Audiolouis. Unwise, seen as their last co-produced effort, got consecutively remixed by Polar Inertia, Antigone and Varg among others. Synthek started curating the booking of New Faces Wednesdays at Tresor Berlin in 2014, becoming a respected presence behind the decks of the legendary venue and especially so for his closing sets. The idea of creating STK, a self titled imprint and home of his own productions only, gives him the freedom to experiment new approaches to music production and reshape his signature sound. The initial wave of 3 EPs entitled VERSE, launched in July 2015, brought him to look slightly away from the dance floor, and finally orienting towards mind-twisting and psychedelic compositions. Beside releases on STK, since his last appearance on Attic Music, Synthek has released new material such as his MRI EP on Russian label Wunderblock, a remix alongside Svreca on Spanish imprint Redpoint Alert, and a contribution for a compilation on OVUNQVE.

This year Synthek released Transitions of Life on Natch Records, his first solo LP. The 11-tracker came out on April 18th, the unfolding of a two-year transformational period that saw Synthek cross along rough roads and tribulations to reveal an intimate personal journey of revelation through emotional downshift, spiritual upheaval and cerebral quandary.

Synthetk is this week’s guest on Global Vibe Radio, where he presents the last 3 hours of his 7 hour set at KHIDI in Georgia from earlier in 2017. We also took the chance to chat with him about projects past, present and future. Enjoy the mix and read on for the exclusive interview!

In 2011, he was chosen to be part of the infamous Nice To Be project where his collaboration granted him the possibility to grow and push the limits as an artist. It’s when his own style began to shape towards Techno that Diego was inspired to make his own music, and when his unique personality grew as an artist. His various releases are among respected labels such as Konsequent Records, Nowhere, Etruria Beat, N2B Black Series, Planet Rhythm. Diego’s career is developing fast with his prominent releases and his experience behind his music knowledge.
