Mexico’s RHA Fest Drops Lineup Featuring Green Velvet, Claptone, Catz ‘n Dogz and more

A new Mexican festival is set to debut this year, as RHA Festival drops its inaugural lineup for the event taking place in Punta Mita in the Riviera Nayarit.

This new festival experience in the sands of the famed Punta Mita Resort is just two hours from Southern California, making it an accessible festival for people across the border too. RHA means water flowing in wixárika, the language of the indigenous people of Mexico’s Nayarit region. Flow, is a reference that tells us about their journey of life. The water that flows, the water that evaporates, the water that rains and returns.

Smartbar Chicago Announces All Women March Lineup with Heidi, Nina Kraviz, Jane Fitz

daphne2017As one of the most inclusive venues in our community, Smartbar presents Daphne: Celebrating Female-Identifying Non-Binary Artists with an all-female lineup for the third year this March (Women’s History Month).

The first weekend will host Elysia Crampton (live) on Friday, March 3rd; and Heidi on Saturday, March 4th.

The second weekend begins with T. Mixwell on Thursday, March 9th. After more than four years, the return of Nina Kraviz on Friday, March 1oth; and Jane Fitz, Volvox on Saturday, March 11th.

The third weekend with Brooklyn based Octo Octa (live), Lady Blacktronika on Friday, March 17th and an all night set by the one and only, The Black Madonna on Saturday, March 18th.

The fourth weekend with Smartbar residents Sassmouth, Jarvi on Friday, March 24th and Cassy, Honey Dijon on Saturday, March 25th.

The fifth and final weekend begins with Neon Falls with Eris Drew (live) on Thursday, March 30th and closing out duties by Lake Effect with K-Hand on Friday, March 31st.

Smartbar has consistently supported and welcomed woman-identified and non-binary artists. They also identify them as the leaders they are through triumphant efforts for a diverse community.

Dekmantel 2017 features Jeff Mills, Floating Points, Larry Heard, Ben UFO, Joy Orbison

The massive Dekmantel 2017 lineup has been released. This year’s event is set to begin a day earlier spanning Wednesday through Sunday, August 2nd through the 6th.

Antal b2b Hunee, Ben UFO, Bicep, British Murder Boys, Floating Points, Joy Orbison b2b Jon K, Jeff Mills b2b Tony Allen (live), Larry Heard are some of the many artists on the bill.

On Wednesday there is one special performance by Steve Reich, a minimal music pioneer, at Muziekgebouw Aan ’t IJ, a concert hall for contemporary classical music.

Thursday will “serve up a dazzling display of live music that reaches all across the musical spectrum. Both legends and modern virtuosos will be sharing stages shattered across five different venues along the IJ river, a stones throw away from Amsterdam’s city center.”

Live performances from Steve Reich, Larry Heard, British Murder Boys, Jeff Mills b2b Tony Allen, Karenn, Floating Points (who will also DJ), Bicep, and an audiovisual collaboration from Arca and Jesse Kanda.

DJ sets by the likes of Peggy Gou, Nina Kraviz, Antal b2b Hunee, Anthony Parasole, Ben UFO, Jon Hopkins, Marcel Dettmann, Rødhåd, Volvox & Umfang, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Joy Orbison b2b Jon K, Job Jobse b2b Midland, and Palms Traxx, while Robert Hood and Donato Dozzy b2b Peter Van Hoesen will be hybrid performances.

The festival will host its usual four stages this year; each one showcasing a different variety of talent. They are the Mainstage, Greenhouse, UFO, and Selectors stages.

At the Mainstage, you can expect to see Mathew Jonson (live), Job Jobse b2b Midland, Bicep, Robert Hood (live), Floating Points, Ben UFO, and Antal b2b Hunee. With a massive stage-wide display in the background, the Mainstage will be equipped with “unchampioned artisans, albeit exceptional DJs or compelling live-acts.”


The Greenhouse stage is famous for its luscious, leafy setting taking place under a clear roof. You can expect to see the likes of Jeff Mills b2b Tony Allen (live), Helena Hauff, Joy Orbison b2b Jon K, D.A.F. (live), and much more.

The UFO stage is positioned to transcend your musical journey at Dekmantel that will “bring you the best there is in experimental and futuristic techno, noise and electro.” You can find Ø [Phase] (live), Matrixxman, Rødhåd, Discwoman’s Volvox b2b Umfang, Anthony Parasole, Karenn (live), and the British Murder Boys (live) here.

Last but certainly not least, the Selectors stage (which has grown into its own mini festival, Dekmantel Selectors) showcases a maximum of five artists per day with a broad spectrum of musical selections. Nina Kraviz, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Marcel Dettmann, Objekt b2b Call Super will boast their talents here.

5 Performances Not To Miss During Awakenings’ 20th Anniversary

The legendary Awakenings is celebrating its 20th anniversary with five massive parties spanning from Thursday, April 13 through Sunday, April 16 2017.

To commemorate this massive event, Awakenings has partnered with Monumental Productions and, Amsterdam based publisher, Mary Go Wild to produce an anniversary book for the occasion.

Most importantly and for the first time ever, the event will feature a day party on Saturday, April 15th from 11 am to 10 pm with heavy hitters Joris Voorn, Ben Klock, Adam Beyer, Jeff Mills and Chris Liebing all performing.

The remainder of the events take place during the night from Thursday to Sunday with the likes of Nina Kraviz, Pan-Pot, Sven Väth, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Bart Skils, 2000 and One, Marcel Dettmann, Dave Clarke, DJ Billy Nasty, DJ Rush, Kölsch, Len Faki, Luciano, Seth Troxler, and Ricardo Villalobos all scheduled to play at Amsterdam’s revered Gashouder venue.

The German mastermind that is Papa Sven has been a long-time friend of and performer at Awakenings. Thanks to his signature vinyl-only performances, upbeat techno tracks and funky synths, he’s sure to keep the crowd dancing throughout his entire set.

Ben Klock b2b Marcel Dettmann – April 14
These two gentlemen have been at the top of techno lists around the world and rightfully so. Their dynamic b2b sets ooze characteristic Berghain pounding techno with thrilling twists and turns throughout, making them our standout back-to-back choice for Awakenings’ 20 Year Anniversary celebration.

Jeff Mills – April 15 (Day) 
A space wizard with endless talents, Jeff Mills is one of the most well-seasoned techno producers and DJs to roam this earth. His sets are known to incorporate cosmic synths and spacial sounds, providing timeless and out-of-this-world techno inspired emotions.

Dave Clarke – April 15 (Night)
Another Awakenings and veteran techno producer, Dave Clarke will bring the heat with heavy drums and a signature old school sound that blends techno and electro with effortless precision. The Amsterdam-based UK producer debuted with his first release in 1990 and yet remains at the forefront of today’s underground with good reason: his penchant for quality music above all else.

Ricardo Villalobos – April 16
Unnecessarily talented, Ricardo Villalobos is known to be the king of eclectic mixes, from spiraling sounds with deep bass to spirit-liberating techno. As an Awakenings veteran and one of the most sought-after talents in the world, there is no doubt that he will not disappoint for the festival’s 20th Anniversary.

The BPM Festival Announces Full 2017 Lineup: 460 Artists & 80 Showcases

he BPM Festival in Playa del Carmen has now released its full lineup for 2017, featuring a total of over 460 artists and 80 separate showcases.

The 10th edition of the annual gathering will take place between January 6th and 15th 2017, a week filled with some of the most revered names in house, tech house and techno from around the world. On top of its already vast selection of label and party brand showcases, this year The BPM Festival is launching a new signature event for 2017 called The BPM Festival presents Solamente, a party which highlights the skill of marathon sets by billing The Martinez Brothers for an open-to-close performance.

The BPM Festival has also launched a selection of “Vamos A La Playa” pre-parties, with stops in Canada, the United States and Brazil and performances by Mexico’s Hector and Detroit techno pioneer Stacey Pullen.

CRSSD Festival Announces Recondite, Rødhåd, Âme and Jackmaster for Spring 2017

As scheduled, CRSSD Festival has released its Spring 2017 roster and its possibly its best one to date.

As per previous formats, the San Diego waterfront festival continues with its mission to provide an eclectic experience with emphasis on more “underground” sounds of house and techno, as well as deeper strands of electronic music that aren’t found on other festival main stages.

Positioned at Waterfront Park in the city’s downtown area, CRSSD sold out both of 2016’s editions and with this lineup release looks set to repeat the feat for the third time in a row. Live acts this coming March 4th and 5th include Blood Orange, AlunaGeorge, Recondite, Bob Moses and Dusky making their live debut on the West Coast. Highlights in the house and techno realm include Dystopian boss Rødhåd, Innervisions’ Âme, Scotland’s ever-popular Jackmaster, crafty selector Midland, the wizardry genius of Damian Lazarus, CRSSD alum Skream, 2manydjs and an extended set by Seth Troxler b2b Eats Everything. On the more diverse side of the lineup, the Ocean View stage is set to feature Flume, Snakehips, Giraffage and Duke Dumont.

On top of its music programming and idyllic location, the 21+ festival has also become popular for its craft beer selection, top-tier local gourmet food options and impeccable mixology program.

Movement Detroit Drops Phase I Lineup for 2017 featuring Carl Cox, Function, The Belleville Three and more


Movement Electronic Music Festival, the United States’ most anticipated techno and house focused festival, has just dropped its Phase I lineup for 2017.

This coming year’s roster will featuring Carl Cox on headlining duty on Monday night, with the remaining two headliners scheduled to be revealed when Phase II comes out. Other techno highlights include The Belleville Three, Function, Drumcell Recondite, Adam X, Perc and Robert Hood (Live). The house music front will be represented by Jamie Jones, Dixon, Dusky and many more.

Croatia’s Spring Break Island Reveals 2017 Headliner


Croatia is proudly becoming one of the hottest festival destinations in the world, and there’s no doubt that another crazy festival season is ahead of us for 2017.

Zrce Beach, often referred to as Croatia Ibiza, will be hosting Spring Break Island again. The event is celebrating its 5th birthday this year and promises to deliver 3 unforgettable days and nights of good music, great company and endless parties.

Mark the date: from June 2nd 2017 to the 5th Spring Break Island will take over Zrce Beach with Spinnin’ Records superstar Tujamo announced as the first headliner. The festival has hosted more than 50 DJs so far, including the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, SIGMA, Klingande, Allefarben, DJ Antoine, Mike Candys, Plastik Funk and many others. Novalja city will remain the location for all pre-parties, with Cocomo Club and Noa Beach Club, crowned #20 club in the world by DJ Mag, the two hosting point for the celebrations. Added for 2017 are Deep Club, where you’ll be able to enjoy the deeper sounds of the festival and Rocks Beach Club, the perfect location to chill out by a pool while sipping on your favorite cocktail and enjoying the expansive views over the beach and sea ahead of you.

The BPM Festival Announces First 100 Artists and 30 Total Showcases for 2017

Last month The BPM Festival released the first 10 label/party showcases that will be hosting parties in Playa del Carmen this coming January.

Now, the names of the first 100 artists scheduled to perform have been announced alongside a more complete list of parties that totals 30 separate showcases. The latest 10 announced showcases include: the BPM debut of supergroup Better Lost Than Stupid composed of Davide Squillace, Martin Buttrich and Matthias Tanzmann, UK duo Dusky with their signature event Dusky Presents, Carl Cox’s authoritative underground imprint Intec, the return of party brand and record label Kaluki, Marco Bailey’s techno-focused party MATERIA, catz ‘n dogz Polish imprint Pets Recordings, Lee Foss’ out-of-this-world party series and record label Repopulate Mars, Riva Starr’s house heavy label SNATCH!, Diynamic Music chief Solomun with his famed Solomun +1 party concept, and Coyu’s cat-loving, reputable Spanish label Suara.

Commemorating the festival’s decade long rise to prominence and influential stature within the global festival circuit – Mixmag, Handlebar Films, and Bud Light Mexico present the trailer for The BPM Festival Official Documentary: Dancing in Paradise. The full length documentary film will highlight the festival’s history and meteoric rise to being one the world’s most important dance music events in the world that establishes the tone for the remainder of the year over the last decade. Minimal Effort LA To Bring Stephan Bodzin, Recondite, Francesca Lombardo and more for NYE

This past Saturday night, Los Angeles saw the Minimal Effort brand move to a fresh new location at the Los Angeles Center Studios, taking their concept to the next level with two outside stages and an inside room for 10 hours of music to celebrate Halloween weekend.
MENYEThis coming New Year’s Eve they do it all over again at their new home, promising to continue to bring a fine lineup selection of underground dance music acts that focuses on house with a splash of techno. NYE flyers posted around the venue during the Halloween affair confirmed the musical direction the brand is taking, with a quality selection of artists scheduled to play live sets this upcoming New Year’s Eve including Recondite, Audion, Henry Saiz, Nicola Cruz and Stephan Bodzin, who will be making his Los Angeles debut for the occasion. Attendees will also be treated to DJ sets by Simian Mobile Disco, &ME, Chrome SparksFrancesca Lombardo and the ever-popular Desert Hearts Crew among others.

Added: Today Minimal Effort revealed Phase I of their lineup for NYE which includes all the above artists and the addition of Dirtybird’s Sacha Robotti.

More acts will be confirmed in the following weeks for the event which will run from 4pm until 2am with 3 indoor and outdoor stages, 20+ DJs and 10 hours of music.
